WorldMed at UPC is a student-run organization with a sister chapter on the health sciences campus (HSC) at the University of Southern California (USC).
We aim to create a platform in which undergraduates, graduates, prospective students, faculty, and staff can discuss and eliminate existing critical health challenges.
At our table, we will be educating students about prevention strategies and how to maintain living with HIV. In addition, we will have FREE condoms and FREE red ribbon pins for you to show your support for the cause!
Did you know every 3 minutes in the U.S. someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer? Or that while 30% of patients can find a matching bone marrow donor in their families, 70% must rely on a benevolent stranger to step up and donate?
In an effort to give back to the local USC community, WorldMed volunteers with the World Harvest Food Bank, which provides food and living essentials to 75,000 families each year.
Although COVID-19 guidelines have made this opportunity unavailable at the moment, WorldMed plans to continue this project in the future.
Recognizing the pressing concern of rising homelessness in the Los Angeles area, WorldMed regularly volunteers with Shower of Hope, an incredible organization that provides free showers to people experiencing homelessness.

WorldMed regularly hosts a Health Fair at a local school near the USC area to provide students with interactive and informative presentations about various health topics. By connecting to younger students, WorldMed hopes to instill healthy habits and mindsets at an early age.

During the virtual Fall 2020 semester, WorldMed utilized Zoom in order to host a panel of speakers to discuss the concerning racial disparities in our healthcare system. The event invigorated an insightful discussion amongst the attendees and the speakers themselves.

Despite having a virtual Fall 2020 semester, WorldMed coordinated an incredible set of panelists for an informative discussion on substance abuse and how to address the multifaceted issue in our healthcare systems.

WorldMed also started a new partnership with LA Works in Fall 2020 to assist senior citizens during the pandemic. Each WorldMed volunteer called senior citizens across Los Angeles to ensure that they had access to proper housing, food, and healthcare during this global pandemic.

In honor of World AIDS Day (Dec. 1) earlier this month, two WorldMed E-Board members—Grace Ryu and Woori Lee—took it upon themselves to host a fundraiser in South Korea to raise money for UNAIDS, a wonderful organization that strives to increase accessibility to HIV/AIDS testing and treatment.
